However, we can take advantage of the versatility of this fruit and its flavor to prepare recipes as tasty as this one, a custard apple and orange jelly, a dessert that will delight our senses and take care of our health.

One serving of this custard apple and orange jelly contains 190 calories, 38 g of carbohydrates, 4 g of protein and 3 g of fat. It can be eaten as is, or combined with a vegan yogurt or with a fluffy brown and sugar-free sponge cake.

Ingredients for 4 people

  • 2 custard apples
  • 4 oranges (the juice)
  • 4 gelatin leaves (8 grams)
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar

Preparation (15 min + 2 min cooking + 2h rest)

Preparing this tasty dessert is very simple, you just have to follow three simple steps:

  1. Squeeze the oranges and strain the resulting juice. Next, soak the gelatin sheets in cold water. Cut the custard apple in half, scoop out the pulp with a spoon, carefully remove the seeds, and chop the fruit.
  2. Heat half of the previously squeezed juice without boiling, dissolve the sugar and add the drained gelatin. Then add the rest of the juice and the chirimoya pieces. Next, pour the mixture into four individual silicone molds.
  3. Refrigerate the mixture for at least 3 hours to set the gelatin. Unmold carefully, dipping the mold for 5 seconds in hot water and serve.

Variants: To make this recipe you can use the juice of any fruit, except pineapple, kiwi or papaya, since these three fruits contain enzymes that prevent the gelatin that is sold in leaves or powder from curdling. If you intend to prepare a jelly with their juice, you have to use another gelatin, agar agar, which is not affected by these enzymes.

In any case, whatever fruit you use, the result is always a fresh, beautiful, nutritious and healthy dessert.
